I'm a visual learner, so to understand the borders of the Promised Land as described in this chapter, I googled to find a map. Guess what? There are a bunch of very different ideas of exactly what this land encompassed. But one thing is clear in all of them, the land that comprises Israel today is only a fraction of what God promised.
Israel is constantly being bombarded with demands to give up more of the land in order to secure peace. They're literally bombarded with attacks as well. Yet they're living in only a small portion of God's promise.
I'm not going to go political with this, you can figure that out for yourself, but think of this on a personal level.
How often are we reduced to accepting only the scraps of what God has promised us? Doesn't the enemy bombard us with temptations and attacks to try to make us give up even more of God's blessings in our lives? Instead of living in victory, with the power to move mountains and achieve miracles in the name of Jesus, we too often settle for mediocrity and the status quo.
God's promise to us is the Holy Spirit living inside us, guiding us with the same power that raised Christ from the dead. If the Spirit could raise a dead man after three days in the grave, is there anything in your life that cannot be done if it's God's will?
